Intel ARC GPUs, tested one year later... Finally WORTH buying for your Gaming PC?

When I last tested the ARC a750 and A770, they were, to simply put it, a complete mess. Though trying out the GPUs nearly a year later, I am actually quite impressed how far the stability has come in particular, as well as much more consistent performance. Though there are still quite a few problems that have been not only void of fixing, but haven't even been addressed....

Chapters
00:00 A recap of events
01:34 Gaming benchmarks, vs a lot of GPUs (RX 6600, 7600, RTX 3060, 4060, RX 6700 XT), 1080p and 1440p.
03:34 The good about ARC since we last visited it. Ray tracing is quite good on the A770 16gb version too.
05:40 The bad, power consumption, efficiency and other problems that STILL exist.
07:05 Premiere Pro benchmark, great for Adobe.
09:54 weird sleeping problem with drivers, maybe just turn off PC sleep setting.
11:30 ARC, should you buy one?

Getting some positive comments about the a380 and making a custom encode box with it. Might have to see if I can snag one up used. As jelly fin is gaining lots of traction.

If this is Intels first attempt with GPUs then I'd say its a success. They should improve.

Considering where Intel started with the A770 and A750, getting them to the point where they are competing with an RX 6600 at the very worst is quite an achievement.

I fully agree with you. I have an Arc A750 which I use in my editing PC. The only load it really takes on is Premiere Pro and video playback in Chrome. Still, an excellent value card for productivity

I'd like to Arc but since I'm a laptop guy, trying Arc might be a pipe dream and that Arc laptops which was promised during Intel's keynote are very scarce. But I'll wait till Battlemage before trying my hands on Arc and desktop space.
Arc is finally optimised but they should push next gen to really show their competitiveness and I hope they succeed. For now at least.

I have an A380 in my TrueNAS machine for Jellyfin media server. I'm about to buy another A380 for a different machine that does a lot of encoding work. Encoding videos is what makes ARC worth buying for me.

The a770 16gb performs as well as 3070 at 300 bucks. You're hard pressed to find better price to performance ratio with Intel constantly updating it.

I've had my A750 for about a year now and it still kicks ass, got mine new on a flash sale for converted to US = $187 - 25% VAT = $150.

I have an Arc A580 and mostly play indie games, it was an absolutely horrible experience *until* I got a new CPU (Ryzen 5 4500) that supports ReBAR and now is lovely. No more constant stutters, the framerates are nice and I can both play the games I like, as well as record/stream them. Plus I got the card for around 200 EUR to replace my old RX 580, it just seems okay in most respects.

I've had an A770 for half a year and it's been so worth the price. I've had no issues in games and it runs well at 1440p, it's great for recording videos and editing, and I also haven't had any issues with it in daily use like the weird sleep issues some have mentioned. Only thing it's struggled with so far is Blender so I hope Intel improves there with Battlemage!

Also, at least for me, the higher power draw is more a positive than a negative since it keeps my PSU from being super loud lol

I’ve had a A750 since Christmas. For $209 CDN I can say it’s been good value for money with these crazy prices.

As an A770 owner, I will say it’s a solid gpu if you can get it for under $300.

On newer games like Ratchet and Clank it performs wonderfully especially taking advantage of the 16gb vram.

I could deal with drivers issues since Intel told us from the beginning that it could be rough and older apis wouldn’t be ideal.

I bought it to give Intel a try and support. I’m tired of Nvidia screwing gamers over with insanely high prices.

I picked up an ARC A770 16 gb for $239 through WOOT (amazon overstock or something) and after getting REBAR configured (had to be redone after changing CPU to 5600X). I ran benchmarks. Seems pretty stable. Not as good as my Radeon 6900XT 16 gb but I think it a good card. Got it to test and eventually sell in a system.
