Are you telling me that star destroyers are now death stars!?!?

Fun fact: the name of this particular Star Destroyer is the Derriphan, which was also the name of a creature born from the Dark Side in older Expanded Universe material.

Most anticlimactic planet killing scene of star wars. No foreshaoqing, it appears out of nothing. No firing sequence, just a "fire". Not even a cool line like "You may fire when ready."

The Resistance is dead. The Sith flame will burn. All worlds surrender or die. The Final Order begins.

I feel like a big part of TROS was the soundtrack being a Nostalgia trip of the original trilogy. The Imperial Theme, The Emperor's Throne Room theme, and Leias theme, all in one part

Coruscant?
Chandrilla?
Mon Cala?
Naboo?
Lothal?
No, Kijimi, the planet that no one cares about

How does this scene manage to reference Revenge of The Sith twice? first, we hear the music that plays when Palpatine gives Anakin the name Darth Vader and then the music that plays when Bail, Yoda and Obi-Wan discuss what to do with Luke and Leia.

Truly after two Death Stars and Starkiller base the empire/1st and final order knew enough to cut corners to make a fleet of star destroyers with planet destroying weapons, very scary 😱

Say what you want about these movies but this Is one of the coolest looking planet destruction scenes I've ever watched

I think Naboo would have been a better target. It’s Palpatine’s homeworld and knowing him he would happily see it burned, it is also a planet the fan base has an emotional attachment too and if that isn’t enough reason, show Naboo earlier in the film supporting the Resistance in some way.

But hey, that’s just my opinion. Kijimi was an interesting planet, but its destruction made no sense.

During this scene I kid you not the guy in the row right in front of me said "f*ck this, I'm walking out" and left 😂😂

30/40 something years after the first Death Star, it only makes sense that such technology would improve and become more mobile. It's horrifying that something so powerful could eventually become standard issue on every Star Destroyer, but it's a terrible truth.

If only it was part of a better movie than this.

Star destroyers fire laser batteries. Since when there were times that star destroyers fire torpedoes and missiles?

What should have happened is Finn and Artoo capture this ship and use it to destroy Exegol.

1:05 Only positive thing is that they sorta went back on practical effects. Instead of mass cgi

This has to be the weakest "planet destroy scene" in the movies. Alderaan had buildup and showed the cruelty of the Empire and the lengths they were willing to go to. Starkiller Base might be the best scene in the Sequel Trilogy. It's amazingly done and does a much better job at conveying the horror of being on the receiving end of a nuke. This honestly feels like the movie is just like "Woah look at this they have an army of Death Stars oh no." They lack the best parts of those 2 scenes, and again just feels like a way to raise the stakes. They don't do a good job at presenting how terrifying the massacre of these planets are.
