Worlds Longest Passenger Train!

Amtrak Auto Train. This is the longest passenger train in America and at times is the worlds longest. Amtrak runs the daily Auto Train from Sanford Florida to Lorton Virginia. Count the cars as it crosses the level railway crossing in DeLand Florida. Amtrak has auto racks on this train and you can actually put your car or truck on the train and travel with it between these 2 cities. This is the only train like this in America. Listen in on 160.590 and if you are in Sanford Florida you can listen to them switching and building the train on 161.550 megahertz. Hello from India !!
Technically this doesn't qualify as a passenger train.
Out here the regular express / mail passenger trains run with 24 I just love the ALCO locomotives WDM, WDG & WDP series in the Indian Railways, their sheer power, design and performance is unmatched and very dependable. More than all this I simply cannot get enough of their "chugging" and smoking. No wonder they're referred to as the work-horse of the Indian Railways - they really are.
They're slowly but surely getting phased out with the entry of EMD's but it will take some time before they're retired for good.

I like this autotrain concept. A handful of folks out there hang on to the silly dream of the U.S. having passenger rail like they have in Europe. But that just ain't gonna ever happen again. We LOVE our cars WAY to much. No way in hell i'm gonna want to take a freakin' train everywhere after I just bought a brand new BMW or a brand new chevy Tahoe. But this autotrain blends the two concepts of rail and love of autos. Perfect.

I didn’t count the passenger cars but when I worked on the CNR in Canada on the Super Continental we ran anywhere from 22-28 passenger cars in the summer out west. I do like the auto carriers on the tail end of Amtrak. A great way to go to Florida and have your car while you are there!
