LONGEST TRAIN in the World

When they were first introduced, railways completely changed the way that cargo and passengers are transported by land across great distances and, while other options, such as container ships, may be more cost effective or efficient… rail networks remain the fundamental backbone of the economies of most countries around the world. Normally each train will have a limited number of carriages that are related to the power of the engines pulling them, and the capacity of the railroad they’re using, but there trains that are unbelievably long! So join us for today's video, as we look through the 15 longest trains in the world.

That Australian train probably had winter weather at the head of the train and summer at the end of the train 🤣🤣

I really enjoy a lot of true crime shows but that's not appropriate to watch in front of my children, but I REALLY like your content because it's very interesting, informational and family friendly. Thank you for all your hard work.

I film Union Pacific and BNSF trains in the southwestern united states. These trains get incredibly long, and their are usually remote control units called "distributed power" locomotives that are in the middle of the train or all the way at the back.

As a Railfan, I film the huge north American freight trains and I seen alot of very long and big trains that usually have 3 or 4 big engines and mostly had 2 at the front and 1 or 2 in the middle and sometimes at the end of the train, I film alot of Canadian Pacific and Canadian National trains and I seen a train that had 8 engines at the front of the train!!!

What really gets my goat is not that these trains are so long, but that the companies try to save money by having only one person operating the train. I mean, are they trying to say that their profit is so small that having two men on board would make them lose money? Who are they trying to convince that 2 or 3 people operating a train 2 miles long would affect profits in any meaningful amount. For safety reasons, there should be more operators on these long trains. Maybe there would be fewer derailments, which seem to be happening on a regular basis. The cost associated with just one derailment would be much more than the savings from having only one operator on the train.

Fun fact: The longest train ever is *4.5 miles long!* For comparison, Mount Everest is 5.4 miles tall!

15: The Ghan (short for Afghan), not gun.
10: Leah Creek, not Lee.
I assume the rest is right, but being stuck in Australia, I wouldn't know. 😁

You didn't mention any trains from Canada. Some I have seen and monitored in central Canada have exceeded 5 miles and 8 engines with double stacked inter modal containers. They would go from Vancouver to Toronto.

Howdy from Tanglefoot, Texas! Here for Al Gore's Rhythm - remember him dancing the Macarena at the '92 Democratic National Convention?

(Al Gore's Rhythm = al gor ithm) (for those who missed the alliteration)

Im an Australian and it is actually quite popular especially with older generations to want to go on The Ghan, the scenery is spectacular especially if its not been long since the wet season in the outback, its a sight to definitely see.
Thanks to all the train drivers out there, you do a totally thankless job but like with truck drivers we'd be absolutely screwed as a society without the trucks, trains and their drivers.
You are ALL appreciated 💛

not aimed at anyone but have to make the joke " none of these trains compare to the ones run on your mother " 😂

When we were kids we would lay coins on the tracks.
That is some serious weight the locomotives have too flatten those coins down too a tenth of their original thickness.
I used to be so impressed with trains back all those year's ago. My Mom would yell at us saying it would derail the train.
Yeah... OK Mom. We'll stop. I had coffee cans filled with them. Now it's a felony if you get caught.

7.30, re Leigh Creek Railway. The tracks and infrastructure is still there but the power stations they fed for many years have been removed. The government listened to the Greenie’s and decided to remove the power stations so there won’t be a reason to reactivate the mines or power stations. On the edge of Port Augusta there’s a huge yard of sidings full of coal wagons and unwanted locomotives. Progress.🇦🇺

WOW INDEED THAT IS A LOT OF TRAIN IT LOOKS LIKE A TRAIN BROKE DOWN AND THEY CHOSE TO GET IT WITH ANOTHER TRAIN THAT WAS CLOSE AND STRONG ENOUGH BECAUSE NORMALLY TO STAY WITHIN A "SAFE ZONE " MOST TRAINS ARE NOT MORE THAN 30 OR 40 CARRS BUT IT'S RARE TO SEE A TRAIN WITH 2 OR 3 HUNDRED CARRS OR ONE WITH 4-TO 6 LOCOMOTIVES!!! 😅 BUT AS A TRAIN FANATIC, AWSOME NONE THE
