Not a good tactic to decimalize the quadratic coefficients at the start.
Using a slightly unconventional method for solving the quadratic.
L^2-23/2*L+33 = 0.
m=23/4 d = sqrt( m^2 - 33) -> d = 1/4
and the roots are :
m-d and m+d -> 23/4 -1/4 and 23/4 + 1/4 -> (11/2, 6 ) -> L
