Engines Shake, Sound Like Tractors, Wheels Fall off Mid-Drive—How Poor Is BYD’s Quality?

The noise and vibration from the BYD Model Han's engine are ridiculously loud, just like being at a disco. Owners joke that just two weeks after getting the car, it's evolved into a tractor.

my brother drove a byd for 2 weeks on a loaner from an EU dealership... the quality was so poor, the dashboard fell off while driving, when he got out to why the car was pulling right, the passenger tires were angled towards the wrong way.

the dealership had to pick him up and proceeded to tell him, every single BYD was terrible quality, they only use them for loaner cars, cause china byd didnt want their crap back.

The sad thing about China is that it could be such a great country, they have everything they need except for ONE thing. That one thing they are missing is a culture of honesty. If you are Chinese and reading this, be the beacon of light. Always tell the truth and work with others instead of against them. One candle lights up an entire room.

What a nerve to build such garbage, they are built to kill. I wouldn't drive one for free

BYD wouldn’t last 6 months on the U.S. market. The demand for EVs dying down would only add on top the mountain of quality control issues with Chinese cars.

Making millions of cars and NOT selling them isn't growth.. it's a massive liability.. game over to all manufacturers who did this those cars are scrap

If you look at Japan, you will see that quality can change. Originally, Japanese manufacturers had a reputation for making junk, but eventually I would rather have a Lexus than a Mercedes. But BYD currently builds junk. At the moment, anyone buying a Chinese car is a fool.

BYD’s yearly sales are so high because you have to buy a new one every year.

This reminds me of the 1980's when the Yugo was sold in the US. It took a few years for people to realize they had been ripped off.

Engines got approved w/out even checking how durable the materials are, and probably hasn't been tested for long term use.
Cheap gimmicks built into software that isn't very reliable doesn't mean innovation, it's deception.

I wonder if European and American BYD buyers will get warrantees. Or if the Chinese company will be like, "We don't do that!"

I'll stick to my fully paid off, dinosaur powered Japanese 2003 Infinity G35!
What is the longevity of a BYD(Burn You Down) or how old is the oldest BYD that is still operational and on the street?

This is why people the world over prefer Japanese cars. RELIABILITY and QUALITY engines!

I thought my BMW 740d E65 from 2003 is terrible, but seeing this makes me kinda relieved. 😅

The funniest things about EVs in China is during the recent new years. Many people went to Hainan or Santa. It’s an Island off the coast of China.
When they wanted to return, the Ferry’s would not allow many EVs on at once about 7 out of 100 cars on the ferry at anytime. Due to fires caused by the EV. And in many cases, BYD were the ones kicked off. And many people abandoned their EVs in Hainan. Saying that if the ferry company doesn’t trust it they won’t as well. So now Hainan has heaps of abandoned BYD EV.
It’s hilarious here. You get to pro BYD side, they will say anything to keep BYD popular. Then you get the real drivers. They won’t touch them even if they are half price.
They explode, brake fails, airbags don’t deploy, auto drive you into shit, won’t release cruise control on the accelerator speeding up and going crazy, doors that just fall off ( my favorite one, it happens when they go around at roundabout at speed) their batteries fall out, diff locks up, gearboxes strip 10 km off the factory floor and more. It’s hilarious.

Do you really think that BYD would stand a chance in the US open market? We have consumer protection agencies like the NHTSA. I've seen electric BYDs cook off on the roads of China. The CCPs automotive industry might be a hit initially but the lack of quality will kill it.

Chinese cars have been popular where i live since Covid. Its not unusual too see them broken down on the side of the road. I cannot believe people would buy an expensive complex product from a country that has trouble making a reliable ballpoint pen.

I drove a BYD rental for 1 day and demanded to have a different car as it was very dangerous to drive and ruining our holiday! They are downright dangerous!

1:01 - 1:33 the purpose of this why they made the gear substandard is to make all of those who purchased those cars to buy the gears from that company.. its another way to get profit..

the engine vibration may has be a faulty engine mount or bushing.
having both of them faulty may destroy the engine itself from vibration.
