Does it work on ps5?
Yes but I don't have a ps5 i got s friend with one to try it and it worked but ... only if you download the PS4 version of minecraft *and* the icon displayed will still be the newer icon. If you see a smaller 1.7 GB update instead of the 2GB one then it's probably downloading the right one.

Does it need the disc? No. This is a digital copy in video, the disc probably works also but it might claim its update 2.XX or something while downloading.

Do you need MC before 2019? Also no. This might be required for "editions" to show up but i dont know .. but as far as playing LCE on a older version of minecraft this isn't needed. Their the same "game" as far as the ps4 knows ..

Also this was only tested on the EU and US versions of the game, does not work on beta or preview ..

The JP version should work but I don't have it or know anyone with it.

Editions button: I dunno what exactly causes this button to show up. Playing on 1.95 for awhile and updating back to bedrock didn't seem to work for me but others have said doing something like this does work .

I also dunno if it's possible on the newer disc version that ships with a newer update I don't have one.

I got the PS4 legacy disc for Christmas in 2019. It was ordered in October though because I recently found the receipt. My friend has the disc version but he has the new disc, not the old one. He did originally buy the old one when he first got his ps4, but they returned it because they thought it wasn’t the right one. Such a shame tbh

You can also get legacy console edition from a disc copy if you delete it and reinstall. You get a different version depending on if the disc has the legacy console edition art or the bedrock art
