This 1971 VW Squareback not only has a tank leak, but the owner was having trouble getting the stock fuel pump to prime up. An electric pump cures this, and eliminates any potential problems with vapor lock, too!

How are you supposed to tighten the nut if you can't fit the spanner on it 😂😅 I bet she paid the Frankenstein mechanic ? and he didn't even tune it, 😂 great job hope she allows you to repair it properly, not take it to someone else, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones

Sounds to me like the owner got taken, had a friend who had his duel port 1600 "tuned" up and when he got it back it ran terrible, the nechanic replaced his delorattos with cheap chinese carbs. Turns out delorattos are collectable n the mechanic knew he could get big bucks for the originals . Luckily duckman, the owner brought it back to you, someone whose honest and compassionate about the veedubs. My friend got his carbs back but it was a Lil greasy as to how he did it. Bottom line, if you got a mechanic that knows his stuff, STICK WITH HIM lol. Great video duck man and a very valuable lesson learned

I've come across a few people that had trouble with their car, " ow, fuel gauge dosent work but it has fuel " after checking the power to pump etc put fuel in it away it goes, glad you found the problems, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones

Crazy; whoever was messing with the car before didn’t really seem to know what they were doing. Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before but whenever I install new intake gaskets I use lip balm on them. Helps them seal and be easy to remove down the line. Also Chinese replacement parts are very questionable. Some work and many don’t. That dieseling on stock single Solexes is controlled by that electric shutoff valve that some cut inside. Don’t know if dual carb models had something similar.

Did you check that the butterfly’s were centered in the throats? I’ve seen them off center before which wouldn’t allow the throttle to close all the way.

Hope u get it fixed I have faith in your work. All I get from China is my hobby. RC. Cars. Only once in a while off TEMU. If on a budget, but I love VW Use to have a few when I was younger. Good channel. U get rain. In Vegas only a few drops. Stay safe
