How VTEC Works - Detailed Disassembly

Показать описание
In this video, we look in detail at how Honda's vtec work, we look at every component from the rocker arms and pins to the vtec solenoid. we also disassemble every component to see how they function.
This is the most detailed "how honda vtec works" video!
VTEC stands for "Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control".. so VVTLEC or VTEC because that sounds better.
VTEC was developed in Japan by Honda to improve the volumetric efficiency and to produce more power with less displacement, this is due to Japanese regulations that taxes cars based on engine size, unlike the USA where more power was gained by increasing the engine size.

We use a PO8 sohc vtec cylinder head from a Honda D16Z6 engine in this video, however, in principle, the Honda K-series and B-series vtec systems work the same way with just minor differences in layout.
D16Z6, D16Y9, B16, B18 GSR (B20V) and the performance variations of K20 and K24 (F-series and H-series (H22 - H23) and even J-series also use the same vtec system just with a different layout.

This video has not been beaten even today imo. Most definitive video on vtec.
A little question, as i understand, once opened, the vtec path pressurize and lubricate the whole intake rocker shaft assembly.
The exhaust rocker shaft is lubricated through the small orifice in the middle of the head then through the camshaft cap.

But how is the intake rocker shaft lubricated when the vtec path is closed?
