Guy was so fun to watch from 2008-2012. His mvp year he only played in 133 games. Thats how good he was

This man could have been the best baseball player that ever lived if it hasn’t been for his out the field problems. I’m a rangers fan and Juan Gonzalez was my favorite player until this man showed up. Best ranger and best baseball player that I have ever seen in my opinion, yes better then trout who I believe is the best player in baseball right now. Man sucks to see this good of a player go down like this. Thank you for 2010 and 2011 josh Hamilton. God bless you!

I know Josh personally and his love and skill of baseball intense. My favorite thing about him is his kindness and compassion. He never looks down on anyone and treats everyone like an equal. It's so sad that all those bad things happened. Drugs did so much harm, to him and others. Sadly he is now mostly remembered for his mistakes, not his amazing baseball talent. Fyi Josh is one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. He's (again) kind, compassionate and loving. Much of that was taken over by the drugs etc. But I will always be proud to call him my friend.

He tossed a baseball souvenir to a man with his son in the stands . The man fell and broke his neck reaching for it . I imagine Josh carried this as well .

The fact that he was out of baseball for 2-3 years, came back to debut at 26 and go on to be al mvp shows just how much talent this guy had. I hate to see him back on hard times. I remember being blown away when I first read his book, while in rehab of all places. It helped me through the process of getting clean. I would've loved to see what he could have accomplished if he never fell into addiction. Other players used to talk about how he was on such a different level that the ball sounded different coming off his bat than anyone they've played with before. I wish him the best though and I'm still pulling for him to get back on track.

If the Rangers had won in 10 or 11, he would be remembered a lot more fondly. That's coming from a Rangers fan.

What I don't get is why his stats started declining in late 2012 and once he signed with the Angels in 2013, was it injuries, age, or off-the-field problems do you think?

"He'll always be remembered for his off the field antics." Maybe to someone who thinks people are defined by their struggles. I see him as someone who inspired me to be get clean, and get back to work regardless of my past.

It's a damn shame that he struggles so mightily off the field. I'd like to be able to go to a Rangers game and see Josh at an induction ceremony or in the team offices like Michael Young, but after that thing with his daughter i don't think that will ever happen for him. I hope he's doing well

Man got into the sauce, and couldn’t get out of it.

He was on track to be one of the greatest outfielders ever. I still remember how excited everyone was when we (Texas) made the trade. I like Edison, but it was exciting getting a former #1 overall pick. His story shows drugs can ruin anyone, no matter how famous or rich you are. He’d make a great ESPN 30 for 30 documentary.

Im still incredibly intrigued by this guy
I read his book
Take out all the bs about how he fought the devil and it's pretty good
But despite all the interviews, videos and book i still have no fuckin idea why he went on the epic decline after getting drafted

Joke aside, that was probably, for a time, the most exciting player to watch. Even more so than hall of famers. Every time he came on TV, seemed like something crazy/special could happen.
