This scene alone is one of the reasons Sam was my favourite LOTR character. Sure he didn't have the skill of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli or the magic of Gandalf, but he had his unbreakable friendship with Frodo! He always stayed by Frodo's side whatever the risk. This scene never fails to get me teary eyed and his and Frodo's bond is one of the best things in LOTR!

Good grief, the wording of the dialogue is so powerful! In a typical script, when Frodo says “I’m going alone, ” Sam would answer something more like “No, you’re not, because I’m coming with you!” But … there’s something that pierces the soul about how Sam instead seems to agree “of course you are, ” meaning going alone, and then adds “and I’m coming with you.” As if he and Frodo aren’t even two separate people, but one being, which only becomes more and more true as the story progresses.

I cry every time, their friendship is amazing, although it was more of a process of how close they became in the books, the movie portrayed it so well despite that. The Shire music is so nostalgic, and shows how they both go so far away from home, but have each other to be reminded of back home.
