What Is A Species? | Evolution | Biology | FuseSchool

Carl Linnaeus classified all living things into groups based upon their physical features. His system placed organisms with the most similar characteristics together in a group he called the “species”.

A species is defined as all organisms that are able to breed with one another, and most importantly, are able to produce fertile offspring.

The species group is accepted as the smallest unit of biological classification and is always given a Greek or Latin name.

The emergence of a new species from an existing one happens as a result of natural selection. This process is called speciation. Some scientists believe that speciation occurs continuously over long periods of time, whilst others believe that speciation occurs only rarely, and in relatively short bursts, sometimes as a result of a dramatic environmental event.

This is only one definition of 'species'. Environmentalists use the term species in a very different way. Since wolves and dogs can interbreed and produce fertile offspring they are the same 'species' according to this definition. An environmentalist will not concede that since there are lots of dogs everywhere it follows that wolves can not be considered an endangered 'species'. Also, an environmentalist will consider 'populations' of wolves to be separate 'species' which need to be considered for protection under the Endangered Species Act. In this way the Endangered Species Act can be manipulated into protecting just about any animal. If 'Great Lakes Gray Wolves' are in decline then they can be protected by the Act even if some other area is overrun with wolves.

"Species is an interbreeding group of similar individuals sharing the common gene pool and producing fertile off spring " 😊😊😊

Since Neanderthals mated with early Sapiens and the two are considered different species, either the definition of "species" is wrong or they are not different species.

Albinism reproduction within a community created dominant recessive genes that was isolated after banishment for a long time and that is the source of all mutations immune system don't recognize foriegn cell the DNA is incompatible with original humans but scence original humans have such diverse genetics compared to albino Neanderthals mixing together worked but with huge problems Mutations immune deficiency and Diseases every where they went and is still going on.
