Synology DSM Template On Proxmox

In this video Harvey shows you the newly released Synology DSM Template for Proxmox. This can be useful if you want to try any new DSM updates before deploying them on your Synology NAS. The company I’m working for is often selling Synology boxes to its clients.

I had no intention to buy one for myself, having already a pool of various storages in my proxmox tower (old Fujitsu esprimo i5), now I’ll be able to train and test Synology ecosystem.

I have proxmox installed on virtual box. i run websites and node js and MQTT brocker without any problem. I did every thing in the video but when I try to boot the VM it says: "guest has not initialized the display yet". how to fix it?

I've been running DSM on an old Core2Quad machine for probably almost 10 years. I love Synology but can't afford the hardware. Hopefully someday soon.

Does this take care of updating the MAC and generating a new serial ID?

Hi. Does it happen to you that you install everything and if you need to shutdown your proxmon instance or reboot it, then the VM with synology are not working and find.synology says No diskstation Found within LAN.
Does this happen to you as well? If yes, how did you solve it?
I've tried to reinstall it again and again and if you reboot proxmox instance, then synology is not working...

Great but for example active backup will not work because no valid license will be generated. Black device series is needed (detail in the doku)

I pass-through full sata pcie controller with 4 Port to VM. How do i add disk that assigned with that sata card?

i am unable to Passtrough my 2x Seagate IronWolf 8TB (they are shown but i cannot format the disks and install DSM on it), creating proxmox virtual disks (on this devices) does work.
Any Idea?

TLDR; Use the template to work with disks already installed in a no longer supported Synolody device...
What if I have a Synology disk station that is no longer supported, but my Proxmox host can access, can I install this template and point it to the Synology, and use it that way.???
