To be fair, he was referring to his parents failed bid to buy Sky TV, the company.

What I find more funny about this is that in the time you grew up two parents on teachers wages could afford to send their son to private school...

I bet if a journalist was to dig deeper into this, Richie probably did have Sky TV.

When the Tories have lost Tom Swarbrick then surely it really is all over!

We didn't have a telephone, a second toilet, a VHS recorder, a modern washing machine or a microwave... and I'm only 12.

In my family we had a black and white tv. My father died from a work related accident, leaving my mum to raise five children. She worked, the oldest ones looked after the youngest children. We had food on our table every night, and we were kept clean.
We didn’t have name brand clothing, or a private education.
Most people work hard and still don’t get the privileged life that Rishi Sunak enjoyed.

I had Sky when I was on barely £18k p/a salary, a mortgage, with 2 small kids - Sunak went to a £50k a year school but poor guy, he didn't have Sky. My heart bleeds for him

Am working class, never seen sky TV, apart from the waiting rooms of the world.

Maybe if Sunak hadn't spent his youth avoiding working class people he'd have had some friends. I bet some of them would have had Sky.

Comparing a middle class family who were fortunate enough to send their kids to private is NOT the same as being an actual billionaire.

For the first half of Sunak's childhood, there was no Sky TV. He was born in 1980. Sky TV didn't start until 😅 for the first half of his childhood Sky TV didn't exist and for the first several years of Sky TV it was quite cheap at around a tenner a month. If Mr and Mrs Sunak wanted Sky TV, then they could have had it.

My parents didn’t want a dish. We got cable with videotron back in 1992. The cricket World Cup and the start of the Premiership. Thank you Mum and Dad.

I grew up without Sky TV, my dad got a "chipped" up card for the old box years ago, and we'd put it in the freezer after it ran out and wouldn't get a new one. Rishi, we feel your pain 🤦
