Cochlear implant processor which is worn behind the ear receives the sound signals are speech signals and converts them into coded signals and transmits it to the receiver stimulator which is anchored behind the ear onto the skull. This receiver stimulator in turn sends these signals through the electrode array into the cochlea where these impulses bypass the cochlear hair cells and directly stimulate the cochlear nerve endings thereby sending signals to the brain so that the person can hear.
