Wind Turbines usually have 3 blades. These blades spin as the wind pushes them. The blades are connected to an electro - magnetic generator which produces electricity as the blades spin.

Building wind turbines does create CO2 emissions. The foundations are made of concrete and usually require about 150 cubic yards of concrete. Production of concrete creates CO2 emissions.
