Thank you, that was useful. I'm using UE5 compositing, and thus need EXR sequences with transparent background. So I'm exporting as EXR with Alpha Channel in Resolve Studio 18.6.5. But it only renders a transparent background if I merge a black background with an opacity/alpha of 0.001 to the output of the Delta Keyer in the Fusion page. Without background, or setting the alpha of the background to 0.000 results in a black background... and even Krita complains about 0 alpha in the EXR files.

For anyone using compound clips in resolve where not every clip has an alpha channel. Take the compound clip into fusion, add a background node to it and set the alpha to 0. Then render it out. This will fix it if it's still not rendering with alpha!

I appreciate your video! Why doesn't DR treat a transparency as a transparency when you load it in? I tried your technique and I have artifacts on what is already a transparency - its just creating more work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽

I got further down the road to the goal here with you more tan anyone else. I did however have a cleaner outcome exporting the green screen video as .tiff's with alpha before re-importing them as a series of stills to be used as a video. I had more control over bleeding edges that way. A cleaner result.

after removing background using delta key, chroma key, as well as any blending mode that works. when I add new background, it shows through the foreground in video or still shots. what can I do to fix this problem?

This is the second tutorial ive followed that said to export alpha to make the black background invisible but whenever I follow the tutorial exactly it still shows a black background after the render. Any ideas?

No this does not work at all for making images transparent. You should not be changing the composite to make things transparent. That will change the colors of everything else in the video that the image covers.
