You've forgotten a couple things. As a Walmart Employee, I now know that they move about 5-10% of inventory to different places every day to make you look for something after finding it before when buying it in the past. They also place items in different places, even out of its specific aisle to look for the specific brand you want, therefore making you look and taking more time to look at everything else.

If you just walk around the outside edge of the store, you can get all your fresh fruit and veg, meats, diary, eggs, baked goods etc. without walking through any aisles of crap.

That never ever ever works on me. Prior to even entering the supermarket, I make a list of healthy food items for the week. I only get those things. In and out without any temptation ✌🏼

the freshly baked smell as you enter is actually artificial- they just put it in the vents near the stores front door- the bakeries usually have to be at the back because of the ovens so the smell not only makes you hungry pre-shop but also entices you to go through the whole store

3 Ways to Not Go Over Budget while Shopping:

1) Make a Grocery List. ONLY buy the things on that list

2) Make a Time Limit. Give yourself 20 minutes to get everything AND checkout.

3) Don't go shopping with kids. They will want candy, soda, ice cream, ect. Shop by yourself.

These are common sense to me...that's why I shop at the same store where I know exactly where the products I'm looking for are located. I also know beforehand exactly what I'm getting.I figure out the costs ahead of time. I only bring exactly the amount it costs. When you know a store & it's products(& prices) you can do this & not fall "victim" to the nightmares of shopping. I also have a routine in the store & go in order to what I'm buying as I pass the isles so I'm not wondering around aimlessly. I block out everything & everyone around me except for what & where I'm going/looking. Just stick to it!

I work at a grocery store and all of this is completely true. Same goes with clothing. You'll be surprised how the pricing and placement of product is set up and how often we change it. I had a customer come in to buy marshmellos and she left with 3 $80 jackets. From a GROCERY store.
