Evolution's Dangerous Gene Mutating Alien Meteor - Explored - An Extremely Underrated Sci-fi Film!

What happens when the severe science fiction horror thriller by Don Jacoby goes through the process of ''Natural Selection'' and reaches Ivan Reitman, who changes the ''Heritable Characters'' and produces a mutated comic version of the script? So, you don't know the answer! The answer is ''Evolution'', a horror, comedy sci-fi film released in June 2001. Though Reitman loved the story by Jacoby, according to him, the film had more potential as a comedy. Reitman called it ''modern-day successor to Ghostbusters''. So, he hired David Diamond and David Weissman to rewrite the script to a horror-comedy film and Jacoby, who was finally happy with the end product.
Orlando Jones and David Duchovny were two hilarious professors who started investigating the samples from a meteor crash in the desert. The impact was discovered by a would-be fireman featured by Sean William Scott. They eventually found that the meteor secreted a gooey substance that bred alien insects. The problem started when they started evolving extremely fast and started reproducing terrifying alien monsters.
The film was shot in California and Arizona with a budget of $80 million and grossed $98.4 million internationally. Ivan Reitman is well known for his comedy films like ''Ghostbusters'', ''Kindergarten Cop'', ''Stripes'' and many more. The other main actors of the movie included Julianne Moore, Ted Lavine. Also starring is Dan Aykroyd, who has also featured in Reitman's ''Ghostbusters'' in 1984 and ''Ghostbusters II'' in 1989. It is heard that Duchovny turned down his role in a Star Wars episode to take one of the lead roles in this film.
Tippet Studio created the design for 18 different aliens, while Sony Pictures Imageworks was responsible for the animation of extraterrestrial worms. Some of the extra VFX was provided by Pacific Data Image. Let us now explore the evolution of the alien microorganism Genus.

Love this movie. I bought it as soon as it came out on dvd. It's basically an updated, alien remake of Ghostbusters and it's almost as awesome. Definitely one of my favorites.

Aside from all the action and sci-fi fun, this movie also had one of the most romantic scenes ever (IMO). When lamenting over their unresolved sexual tension, and facing the likelihood of Ira's demise Allison says "I would have rocked your world..." then Ira exclaims, "But you already have!"

Regular Head & Shoulders has pyrithione zinc, but Selsun Blue is the selenium sulfide one, in their regular strength versions. So Selsun Blue is more well-known for containing it- I wonder if Selsun didn’t want their product featured in a silly movie? I don’t know why, it seems like it’d be great advertising. I didn’t know until this video that Head & Shoulders even had a product with selenium sulfide.

I remember watching this when it first came out in the cinema. It's a great film which I really enjoyed but for some reason it is criminally overlooked and forgotten by many. Shame because it's clever funny and entertaining!😀👍
