an amazing feat of engineering simply to transmit force from one point to another at four different ratios in a controlled fashion. this video convinced me I have no business being anywhere near the inside of this amazing contraption. unfortunately there seems to be a shortage of knowledgeable technicians locally and my local dealer is not only backed up two weeks they don't service vehicles older than 2000!

Awesome instructional video, Brad. I've done a bunch of TH350's and TH400's, a few 700R4's, but that was in tech school and in a shop. Now that I'm doing a 4L60E at home, your video is of great reference tool.

Thank you it really gave me the confidence to do my 41te transmission. Mine is so simple compared to what you just did. Please keep making these videos. And thank you again.

You can also sand the drum by hand. And its good as well to check it with a strait edge to check if the band has worn down the drum

That demo of reaming the valve body killed me, it made me laugh so hard. Yeah of course you used cutting oil and good on you for adding that little extra bit from Transmission Bench, but the damn unit you were working on was twisting and turning and bobbing up and down giving you a very untrue cut, holding it with one hand and using a screwdriver - c'mon man really?. You should have supported it on a sheet of plywood or rubber matting and lightly clamped it either side with a piece of 2 x 6 under said clamps. It was very painful to watch. But hey that's just me. PS - I really liked the way you ripped the reamer out at the end of the cut, scuffing the bore with the cutters - well done.

I like you valve body tray. Where can I locate one? It sure looks like it keeps the valves organized.

A DIYer here. Im in a bit of a pickle in re-assembling my valve body. I have the ATSG Manual for comparison when selecting specific valves, my problem is this, I failed to correctly index the valves and yes, even springs.exactly as removed.
Major oversight on my part. the drawings in the Manual are, only drawings. I cant feel 100% positive I havent misplaced or crossed a valve, spring, placement. Its a bit tedious at this point and Id just rather have a little better look at the individual components and precise placements thereof. This is my first build and Ive learned this so far, do it as directed, pay extreme attention to detail or youll wish you had. I do appreciate ur time and, if you could direct me further ?
Do you have a vid thats detailed piece by piece, by
location and if so pls. send a link ..?
Much thanks,
T

I'm wanting to get an arbor press but i need it to have the lock option like yours so i can also install and remove these snap rings. I'm not seeing this option on the ones i have looked at. What brand is the one you have?

Do you know where I can get the needed tools like the Teflon seal installer and resizer? I also wanted to say thank you so much for these videos!! I have seen many videos on YouTube and nobody takes the time at every step like you did and discuss every little thing. My favorite is you tell us the whys you don't do that thing. Your very professional and very clean!! Good Job !! I'll be rebuilding my trans very soon and will be following your video every step of the way.

Awesome vid!
At 16:35 can you elaborate a little more on what it is your not supposed to do?
Thank you
I love the fact you changed ALL the bushings! Cause ive heard that alot of shops sometimes skip this step and change only the bushings with wear...

Very impressive sir. I'm a self taught mechanic since I was 20 and I can appreciate the skill that you have that you clearly show. Actually, it makes me want to rebuild a 4L60E and have it on standby if any of my car's transmissions die. As an engineer, I see the automatic transmission as a marvel of engineering. What is the best way about going about finding a core that I could rebuild?

Very helpful & very good video.
What do you do with your torque converters on your rebuilds?
