WWII Veteran Raises Millions for British Health Service by Doing Laps

A 99-year-old, British World War II veteran has raised nearly $9 million for the British National Health Service by doing 100 laps around his garden, Tuesday, April 14.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson initially refrained from approving the stringent controls that other European leaders imposed but then closed down the country when projections showed a quarter of a million people could die in Britain.

So far, more than 12,000 people with COVID-19 have died in British hospitals, though new official data indicates the true death toll could be much larger.

Johnson contracted the coronavirus but was recently released from the hospital after a week of treatment.
