The fact that they can have you sit on a plane on a runway for FIVE fucking HOURS and then tell you “never mind lol” is insane

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but they like to claim that they don't compensate for this or that, but I believe they are legally required to, weather or not. Especially if they cancel the flight, as opposed to delaying. The DoT website appears to confirm this. No matter what the reason for the cancel, they are required to compensate. You get extra compensation if it is something within the airlines control.

I understand that you get aggravated about something like that because you do seem so busy all the time. I really respect a lot of the stuff you do. I think you're one of the best streamers that many people should look up to in all honesty. You've changed a lot of people's opinions on what streaming is. That flight was delayed for a reason. Bad weather doesn't necessarily mean raining or something and it could be something very terrible like wind speeds and they did not want planes in the air at all.

It happened to me once trying to fly out of Newark. Bad storm, all flights canceled on a Friday night. They were going to put me on a Monday 12:00 PM flight, but I had to be back in Newark Monday morning. I rented a car, drove to Atlantic City and had a mini vacation until Monday morning. The airline gave me a free round trip, which I used on a vacation to Southern California. Be patient. Think outside the box. It all works out. Maya's smile would chase any storm away!

Dam that’s so rough. I recently sat on the tarmac for 3.5 hours in NYC, but the flight did end up taking off. Sitting for 5 hours before cancellation? After the original flight was already cancelled? Yikes

this is giving me flashbacks of my dfw layover that was only supposed to be 2 hours iirc, ended up being 16. we sat on the runway for 2 hours with the pilot saying “we’ll be taking off soon” every 15ish minutes, eventually they put the plane out of service, and there were no more flights until the next day.


oh and they had one person (1) dealing with a full plane of upset passengers, so you can imagine how chaotic it got.

If you have the ability to sue, you can.
I can't recall the case but, they gathered flight records from a third party website that didn't show any cancellation info, while the airline said, first; due to hitting a bird then after; due to weather.
They were able to sue successfully.
