Delegates from Japan, New Zealand, Australia and South Korea are set to join the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Brussels on Tuesday (Apr 4). US permanent representative to NATO Julianne Smith shares more with CNA's Asia First.

I thought NATO is a defensive alliance? Why is it coming to the Asia Pacific region?

Literally saying: "You should fight until the last man of yours for the benefit of the US!"

From history record, they profit through others instability.
They use it on middle east, Europe and now Asia.
The “divide and conquer” strategy
This strategy is mostly attributed to the Anglo-Saxon(Uk U$ CAN AUS) diplomacy, they simply applied it most effectively through history.
"This strategy, and all other strategies that try to weaken others so we could overcome them, rule over them, is the strategy of our inherently egocentric, self-serving nature, that thrives on succeeding at the expense of others."

1:07 USA wants to impose "Rules Base Order" in Indo Pacific.
What is Rules Base Order?
USA makes the Rules, then build Bases in your country and Order you to obey them.

"Indo" replace "Asia" is to bait India to join QUAD, to become the boss of SCS.
Also to amplify conflict between India and China.
The ‘Indo-Pacific’ strategy “not only aims to erase the name Asia-Pacific and the effective regional cooperation framework in the Asia-Pacific region,
but also aims to efface the achievements and momentum of peace and development fostered by regional countries with joint effort for decades.”
The United States is “ganging up on others attempts to make Asia-Pacific countries ‘pawns’ of US hegemony.”

It's dangerous to be an enemy of the U S. To be a friend is fatal. Remember who said that?

ASEAN should say no to NATO.
Nothing good will come from these warmongers.

Congratulation CNA, for your one-sided reporting and small contribution to the anti PRC echo chamber ! I am sure Singaporean public has benefited tremendously from it, not to mention the South East Asian audience.

EU want to engage with Asia? Join our free trade agreement. NATO not welcomed.

Most NATO countries are ex-colonizers of Indo-Pacific nations. Are they planning to colonize Indo-Pacific nations once more???

From my point of views it seem liken to a subtle agression rather then deepen engagements in the pacific region . Like the many cases of NATO's involvement in western europe, middle east & nothern africa ( libya ), etc.

NATO is secretly expanding its scope of activities.
NATO is actually trying to expand its influence in our region, which is the Asia-Pacific region.
NATO has established so-called cybersecurity centers of excellence with Japan and South Korea.
NATO may also have ties to other entities that are considering similar centers.

Why is NATO trying to be relevant in Indo-Pacific aka Asia Pacific? We don't need NATO to divide Asia Pacific into blocks to fight against one another. What we need is trade deals not more military presents!

My fighter-pilot friends in the Singapore Airforce we have discussed. If war breaks out and Singapore is somehow co-opted into the arena, we will quietly target any Nato and US planes flying over the South China Sea. India's planes or naval assets will be fair game, too.

The US is trying to build a military alliance similar to NATO, such as the US-UK-Australia trilateral security alliance and the US-Japan-India-Australia quadrilateral mechanism. These countries are actually creating a NATO-like regional military bloc, which will only destabilize the region.
