I've noticed that in pretty all movies and shows, married couples will have the same surname. Even 99% of professional liberal/progressive female characters will take their husband's last name. I think married couple surnames can be an interesting thing to explore, but I guess TPTB are either lazy or afraid of offending people on this topic.
