Google Pixel 2 XL in 2024 - STILL worth it?

Google Pixel 2 in 2024,should you buy it?
The Pixel 2 XL is the phone that started it all for me and i'm so happy to have it as part of my collection.
I thought i'd take this phone out in 2024 to see how it holds up today.

I love talking all things google pixel so if you want more pixel goodness then sub to the channel.

I still use my Pixel 2 XL to this day as my main phone. I bought my Pixel 2 XL back in 2021 for $99 (reconditioned). It has held up very well over the years and got my money's worth. It has made me a fan of the Pixel phones as the gold standard of the android phones. The good, it's fast even for it's age and the camera is great. The bad, I did get a burn in issue on the screen and due to it's old age some apps offered in the play store are no longer compatible with it (Had to find a older version of the app to get it to run). I'll use it till it dies on me and then get another Pixel phone.

This was my dream phone before, and now I have the Pixel 6A. I am happy that I am still wanting the Pixel phones, tho it take me some time to save to buy the one I can afford :)

The fact that this 2017 flagship phones is still better than budget phones within 200$ segment is crazy, it's been like 7 years

Maybe it's just me, but the latter Nexus phones (please don't flame me with bootloop reminders 😎) and early Pixel phones seemed more playful than phones today.
A time when Google weren't afraid to try all kinds of things (again, please no comments about the temperature sensor on the 8 pro, no idea about that 😂)
Maybe I'm just being nostalgic but I found those era of devices a lot of fun.

I bought the Pixel 2XL when it first came out and still using it as my daily phone in Oct 2024. Other than the occasional screen freeze every few weeks, this phone still works incredibly well. I wish I could use this phone forever. It's practically bulletproof. Never had a screen protector and have dropped it probably 50 times onto the concrete. Not even a scratch.

HTC worked on the 2 and originally the 2Xl but Google abandoned the HTC design for the 2XL and tapped LG to do it. So it technically was 2 different phones. The original 2Xl is the HTC U11.

One question, if you purchase an older android phone in which the life cycle for OS and Security updates has already ended will the phone automatically update to the latest OS and security update that is available for the phone?

Mine looks like it was ran over by a train but it's still my daily phone, I've had it for like 5 years now and i never seem to get enough of it.
Both cameras don't work at this point😂😂.
Anyone to bless me with another one/upgrade to a newer one will be highly appreciated.

Not worth using as main phone... serious boot loop issues. Will randomly get stuck in a loop with no way to fix it.
