Google Pixel 2 XL Revisited: Android 9 Pie Review!

As a side note - the Google Pixel 2 camera is still consistently one of the best cameras on the market right now.

Congrats on your big move! That sounds exciting, great vids of course.

Here's my take on my Pixel 2 XL:
- hardware has stood up well (mind you I have a case on mine). No real marks or issues, only have a couple of tiny hair scratches. Buttons, ports etc, all good.
- the screen is obviously just okay, definitely not Samsung level good but definitely gotten way better with the added saturated mode. Even my S8+ still looks a better than my Pixel 2 XL with saturated mode on.
- Android Pie is pretty good for the most part, farliy fast and fluid. Definitely don't have ram / speed issues like others have pointed out.
- battery life is okay but definitely not great, averages around 4-6 hours. Probably due to coming over from a beta, and Orero had pretty bad battery life for me. Thinking I may do a total factory reset later this year to start fresh, once 9.1 comes out.
- Android Pie navigations are okay, getting use to it like anything new. However, Google definitely needs to work on it, especially if it's going to be the new standard / default on the Google Pixel 3. Right now it's pretty half-baked, as many others have pointed out.
- camera is still great, hopefully we'll get the refreshed Pixel 3 UI / maybe new features too.
- fingerprint unlock could definitely be faster, might be a hardware limit unfortunately.

That's about all I got for my take on having the Pixel 2 XL for the last 8 months. Definitely am still enjoying it, hopefully updates will keep on coming steady and on time. Should be interesting too see what exclusives the Pixel 3 will have from a software point of view. Cheers and keep up the great work Tim!

Here's my two paise.
Android Pie has been doing great on my Nokia 7 plus, but there are some hiccups here and there due to it being a beta release. It has greatly improved the fluidity of the UI, and is much better than Oreo. I miss Substratum though.
