If you have a secure gateway ID and password, why can't they show you the UTR code in the account.What a mess!.

If you already have a govt gateway account, you’ll be sent there to request a UTR. But I can’t see where within that gateway page you can actually start that process.

when i tried to get my UTR number it became clear that i wasnt going to get it !!
why ? when asked to fill in a self assessment form, i was asked to provide proof of ID, in the form of several documents, eg, (1) British passport, (2) photocard driving licence, plus about 4 or 5 other documents. Well first of all even though i was born and lived in the uk for almost 50 years! i have an irish passport, and an old fashioned driving licence, the one without a photo.
I am currenly living abroad, but i am almost retired, and was advised in order to claim my British pension in the near future i would need an UTR number!!!
Hopefuly some kind soul will see my plight and help me!!
