This is why they need to bring hydroquinone back. With it off the market people are going for these mercury creams, which ACTUALLY ARE dangerous. Me and the women in my family used hydroquinone for years with no issues.

I love that Dr Dray speaks up about topics that are not trendy or oriented toward sales. Thank you for the unbiased science & having a real commitment to educating the public.

Here in Southern Africa, so many women and even many men purchase these products completely unaware what the active and inactive ingredients are. Many skin lightening creams sold here do not even list the ingredients ! some products do list the ingredients, but many of them hide the fact that they contain mercury, only to be exposed by lab tests. It's scary here !

Sadly when I was 11 years old, I thought I had to bleach my skin to conform to society’s ideal beauty standard, and I did. I’m glad I’ve grown beyond that and now love my melanin rich skin. Thank you for for all the information you bestow upon us Dr Dray! Happy Monday!

Skin bleaching is big problem in many countries because light skin is considered as more beautiful, especially in Asia. Poor people who cant afford professional treatments will reach out for these illegal skincare products to achieve that

Hydroquinone has actually been re-approved as an OTC quasi drug in Japan since 2020

Skin bleaching is still prevalent in Asia especially in the Philippines. All their tiktok trending products are bleaching soaps, scrubs, lotions. It’s crazy

Oh my gosh how excited and happy I'm about today's video that I'm gonna cry (burst happy tears) as a child i was fascinated about this particular ingredient. I was really reading everything i could find about it (its highest heated point or its lowest ( i don't know ) solidification point) and its effects. But I'm really happy hearing about the expression "mad as a hatter" thank god someone told its background history. Hatters or hat-makers commonly exhibited slurred speech, tremors, irritability, shyness, depression, and other neurological symptoms; hence the expression “mad as a hatter.” The symptoms were associated with chronic occupational exposure to mercury. Really Bad Bad stuff for the nerve system nasty ingredient but under specialists supervision is controlled and beneficial. Stay safe and far away from this little bad boy "Mercury" and its nicknames 😆. Happy Monday and Good Morning Miss Andrea, thanks for this wonderful video you Rock 😇🙏😁💎😉☕💪💙💚💗.

Thank you for keeping us informed Dr. Dray. Back in the day, when I would get a cut or scrapes on my skin my parents would put Mercurochrome on it. This was back in the 80s, so I’m assuming this product was taken off the shelves due to the possibility of Mercury used in its making.

Hello. I’m wondering if you’d ever do a video for us chemo warriors? I’m 33 and was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer 12/21/22. I start chemo this Friday, 1/20/23, and it’s scary. Everyone talks about the nausea, fatigue and hair loss, but I’d love more info on chemo skin and/or nail care. All my doctor said was “use moisturizer” …. 🤨🤦‍♀️.

Thanks,
Lauren

I come to you for skin care information but I love how you just throw out random Trivia like the origin of mad as a hatter! I knew it was from Alice in Wonderland but I never realized it actually came from the chemicals in making hats! That is fascinating!
