The best visa to obtain to reside in Thailand is the "O-Type" Visa, colloquially known as the "Marriage Visa".
Why "root-around" and waste your precious time like a parasitic sponger in Federal Parliament in Canberra, by wasting time constantly renewing your visa and paying an astronomical amount of cash equivalent to that of a union bribe. Crazy!!
