Owner of the greatest jab in boxing history and in my opinion the heavyweight division's most underappreciated champion.

I ran 5 miles yesterday jamming out to this beat on repeat. I was determined to finish the run and I did it!

I saw all of Larry's Scranton fights including his first pro bout against Rodell Dupree. In fact I fought as an amateur on that Pro-Am card. I was walking down the hall to the locker room after my fight and I was about to pass him on his way to the ring when he stopped me to ask how my fight went (I won by ko). I've been a huge fan ever since. Holmes had it all. I remember telling my uncle that if this guy would stop moving so much and would set down on his punches, he'd be terrific. That's exactly what he did as he climbed from 4 rounders up to main events. Mike Rossman was on the undercard too that night in March of 73. A night I'll never forget

Watching Larry Holmes in his later years fighting on USA network and ESPN was like watching a professor working. even in his forties fighting these youngsters, these guys had no chance. He'd jab leave it out just long enough to turn their chin then deliver his right hand! Jeez! Guy was a master!

There's nothing like the old school. Definitely something you don't see anymore in many fighters, the footwork while shadow boxing, the side to side movement . It has become a lost art . Fighters are way to stationary these days . Great video here thanks for posting

He used his jab arm to also shove and create distance for his right hand. Larry Holmes doesnt get enough credit for how good his right hand was. I honestly feel his great jab over shadows how great he really was.

Holmes was a great champion.
19 consecutive wbc, ibf world title defences.
Won his first 48 fights nearly matching marciano record and what more impressive is that he fought into his 50s and only lost 3 out of 25 fights in the last decade of his career.
