Pearson A level Maths, Pure year 2 Textbook (8.4)

In this video I have a look at finding the point(s) of intersection between two graphs where one is given parametrically and the other is given in Cartesian form.

How did you get -5pi/6 as one of the solutions? For some reason I can't get it.

Your videos are very helpful thank you. For the second question, you subbed in the Curve into the parametric equation. How can you do that? What i would have thought you would do is find the cartesian equation by using both the x and y parametric equations, and then make that cartesian equation = to the curve.

I utilized a slightly different method by converting the parametric equations into cartesian format, setting the two equations equal to one another and then using the discriminant to evaluate the equation - which gave me -4 which is less than zero hence there are no real valid solutions thus they dont intersect. Is this method correct?

For the second question, why can you sub the parametric equations of the curve into equation of the line?
