Is a neve preamp worth $2,000?

Do you think a neve preamp is worth almost $2,000? I've tried a whole bunch of preamps, cheap ones, expensive ones, clones of classic pieces of gear. Stay tuned cause I'm going to try out the neve 1073spx preamp on my channel. Full review coming! #neve #preamp #homerecording

Guy who just spent his life’s savings on a Neve board here… yes, yes Neve is worth every penny. I beg for food scraps now, but my tone is incredible lol. But seriously, my band records all analog. We’ve saved probably tens of thousands on recording sessions by having built a decent analog studio in my home. I managed to get lots of well stored 456 reels for less than a new reel of ATR (costs about $400 per reel, which gets you like 15 minutes of recording time at 30ips). If you think about it, a full record can cost up to 4k just in tape at a studio, plus hundreds to thousands in recording time, then paying someone to engineer, ect. The list is extensive. So much so that I would say, if you want to go analog. Get what you want, if that’s a Neve, a high end multi track machine, and some UA compressors, do it. It will save you so much in the long run

I went with heritage audio ha73 Jr II instead. Virtually identical, but slightly cheaper because of the name. Sounds absolutely stellar and world class. Only problem is now I need 2!

EDIT: let me also say that anything like this worth purchasing open box from Sweetwater. You’ll find tremendous deals this way. Or used, of course. Smarter purchase, in my opinion, than brand new on this caliber of gear.

I had neve 88m and bought one neumann mt48 but neve is another sound

WA makes amazing stuff for 1/4 of the price, Nowadays I don’t think you NEED $1000+ gear to
Make something sound great, but you do get what you pay for, just glad we live in a day and age where there’s so many options available, and it’s Talent/Skill that really sets the playing field

I preamp that will last you a lifetime which you will probably use day in day out? I don't think I can name much other things outside the audio world that would last me a lifetime and I would use daily for only 2 grand.
