One of traditional way to drink sake is from wooden box called Masu. The wooden cup "Masu" is usually used for drinking sake at a celebration in Japan. Thanks for sharing one of the traditional Japanese customs. MASU is absolutely not easy to drink, but we can enjoy the smell of wood drinking Sake.

Imagine it as a traditional drinking cup, while there were different ones, its like putting alcohol in barrels to add flavor except with scent, your nose tastes first

Yes, you drink out of the box. At least the local Japanese I was with did so. 😊

Am I supposed to eat the box afterwards?

Poor over the cup. Raise the box with cup in it to drink. After cup is empty slant the box and refill the cup.

It’s not “wrong” how to drink it but it’s like “not beautiful”. Please do not drink from Square wood box.

Just put them to the cup! 🎉

Did you really make this video without knowing the reason for the box? Or how common this service method is in Japan (traditional, but not common)? It's not even usually a glass in a box; a box on a saucer is more common. I'm disgusted with your lack of knowledge of the subject matter you're making videos about.
