My mate worked for
"We buy any car". He left after 2 weeks as he was not prepared to rip people off. He said the website is there to get people to bring their cars then find every excuse pay way under the valuation. He said they are basically scammers. His words not mine.

A friends daughter went to WBAC in craigleith centre Edinburgh, she was quoted £1750 for a 2009 1.5 clio
the scammers knocked £1150 off for amongst other things tiny stone chips and a hairline crack in a tail light (200 !!!) and 4 tyres, leaving £600, then refusing to hand back the keys or V5 the girl was in tears when she phoned dad as the WBAC scammer told her, if she drove away in the car, he would call the police as she was driving a unroadworthy car .
Dad told her to tell the man to call an ambulance as he was coming over with some lads from the club, when we got there she was still shaken and the little weasel had closed up and scuttled away .
Macklin Motors at Sighthill inspected the car the next day and paid £1825 for it .
Their inspector said the wear on the tyres was at 4mm or so and not an issue in the UK, the crack was in the reflector part of the light so not an mot issue and a 8 year old car would be expected to have stone chips here and there.
So be warned about these wretched people.

Philip Schofield was the advertising front man for them until recently so they should be honest, above board and totally trustworthy 😂

I've used them in the past, really handy for getting rid of a 'dodgy' car when you can't be bothered putting up with tyre kickers and time wasters. It's not to be used if you're wanting top dollar from a car though, just a quick sale.

I took my Mercedes A180 to WBAC, it was absolutely spotless 15plate and was quoted £8, 000. Once I got there the bloke looked around it and put down ‘general wear and tear’ (the most generic thing ever) and took 2k off the price even though the car was sat on my drive for the past 2 years not being used and had no wear and tear at all since I bought it. They’re an absolute scam, I understand that they have to make money but it’s ridiculous how much they take off their original price

The only time you take a car to WeBuyAnycar is after you seriously damage the engine and gearbox. With mechanical faults that don’t show up on the dashboard. I.e the bottom end bearing is on the way out, you’ve blown the head gasket, you’ve wrapped it around a lamppost and “fixed-it” on your front drive way without reporting it to the insurance companies.

Yeah… this is why you never buy from WeBuyAnyCar. These all happened.

Had a very similar experience with WBAC myself in the robbery they should all be wearing masks as part of their uniform!!! 🤬

My mate's car had a proper serious engine problem but managed to get the code reader to keep the engine light off for 10 minutes.
The suckers at WBAC fell for it and he walked away with a decent amount of cash for a totalled car.

Put it through an auction or back on market place this could be the start of a car flipping series

I was also almost fleeced when trading my car black 10 year old Ford focus in some years ago. The car had done 45, 000 miles, had a recent MOT with no advisories, was expecting a £200 reduction on the website price of about £1300. Then the inspection took place and the we buy any car employee told me the car had to be in a "showroom condition" and would cost money to make good any scratches or scuffs on the car. He identified over 80 small minor light scratches on the car at £5 deduction/ repair cost for each one reducing the value down by £400. I traded the car in as P/X elsewhere against a used car at £6000 who did non of this silliness getting £1800 as the garage could see it was a decent car and they had no complaints about the paint work. We buy any car company should be called "we fleece any one".

A few years ago i took an old corsa to them just to be offered £60. £60 for a fully working running car (albeit it was an 04 reg, had a few miles and had some very minor paintwork issues). I couldn't believe it. I told the women i can literally scrap it right now for £125 and she was saying that i should prove the quote from the scrapyard. Anyway, i just drove off and scrapped it for £125. Unbelievable tactics they pull out when you get there..

They've been dishonest with their evaluations for years - In the early days they used a tactic to keep customers cooped up in their premises whilst the staff were 'Looking over' the vehicle, This could sometimes take up to 2 hours and by the time talk of money started the owner was willing to accept any price they dreamt up just to get out of there.

I sold my son's 54 plate megane to a scrappy for £300 in 2022. They didn't even need it running and they picked it up. Their main requirements were that it had 1. A battery, 2. A catalyst, 3. alloys. We Buy Any Car are a total rip-off and I believe they also want a £49 "handling fee" which is applied to all cars.

I enquired about my 2010 focus st3, they offered me £7, 700.
Great! I went down there and they knocked off £250 for this, £250 for that and so on..
I lost out on a grand for really petty things like a stonechip
But overall I don't think £6700 was a bad price to agree on when the clutch was slipping, turbo was knackered and the radiator had a small leak too. 😂

WBAC are owned by British Car Auctions and all the cars they buy-in sell to the trade, so WBAC will always offer under trade prices so stealers have a margin. They make money on other scams such as withholding payment for a number of days unless you pay a fee to release your money in 24 hours.

I used them a while back. Got a quote and booked the appontment. It was 5 days after my quote (they only guarantee for 4 days) so when i got there they immediately knocked 1800 off the quote before they had even inspected.

If one agrees to an appointment at that price, they should at least honour that price. Utter shower of a company.
