A third bedroom for a guest is a very good idea. Actually, I think a guest room is a must to consider when you are planning to build a house.

The best time to avoid the sun is from 11:AM to 3:PM. Even us Filipinos try to be in the shades or inside buildings or homes during those time because thats when the sun is the hottest. Drink plenty of liquids too.

When we first came to NZ from the UK, we were shocked at the hot summer. We learnt that when you go out you need factor 50 sunscreen, a hat with a brim and sunglasses. Also there's lots of sandflies so you need to take tropical strength insect 😢repellent. The cicadas get louder as the summer gets hotter too. Also if we didn't have a insect repellent on the wall, it's a device that squirts it out every half an hour, or screen doors are better.
We made lots of mistakes and got lots of bites and sunburn. If you take the time to do these things then you won't get sun and heat exhaustion. ❤

I always stitch a bit of elastic to my sun hats to go under my chin to stop them blowing off. I've also been known to add garden wire to the rims of the floppy ones.

I have never enjoyed the heat. I love colder weather. Tried living in Florida and was miserable almost daily for 3 years. Air conditioning doesn't do enough to reduce the humidity. "Breezes" outside are just hot wet air moving around. Horrible. As such, there is no time you can leave the house without being slammed with heat. Your car is an oven. Everything you touch is almost burning. The bugs are all over biting. Again, horrible. Some of us just weren't made for that climate so calling it a paradise is funny. :)
