Storm Isha Arrives in Europe with Ferocious Wind… ICE Storm in the U.S | WWS

Welcome! In this forecast, we are going to take a look at the consequences of rising temperatures in Europe and the United States. Recent cold and snow in both America and Europe is being put to a halt as much warmer than normal air surges into both continents. This may produce some pretty pleasant weather for some, but cause big problems for others. Storm Isha will bring damaging wind to the UK/Ireland through tomorrow before impacting other parts of Europe after. In the United States, the remaining cold air will allow for a damaging ice storm to be followed by torrential rains.

I was stuck in Dublin Airport all day today Sunday. The first flight I was on was canceled, then my rebooked flight 7 hours later was also canceled. Bedlam day in Irish Airports. Thank you Isha :) I tracked the second flight coming in and he got as low as about 100 feet and then changed his mind and went straight back to his origin airport....Munich!

It has been here in North West Ireland for some hours, increasing still further. I have no electric as a tree has fallen on the power line, 1500 and rising without power in the area. In the 8 years i have lived here, this is in the top 3 storms because of the sustained wind speeds. I will be without power for a couple of days, the crew came out to look, but its too dangerous.

Its been relentless here SW Ireland since early hours this morning. Those gusts are very very strong.

Winds are scary tonight in the UK, strongest gusts here have already hit 87mph and anything that is not tied down or very heavy has been taking flying lessons. These are some of the most persistent strong winds I've seen in my area. 😮

I'm in the amber part of Netherlands. The worst of the storm is suppose to be 2am onwards. However it's already gusting pretty bad at 10pm.

Wanted to point out something, If you wish to retain the precipitation labels, I would suggest removing the forecast timing bar as it is making the screen appear cluttered. My suggestion is to display the forecast timing bar for 5 seconds and then remove it until the next forecast region is reached. Another option is to shrink the labels and the bar to better display the forecast.

Nice work WW! Sorry I have not tuned in lately. I’m still digging your European forecasts though and your forecasts for North America are great as well. Anyways, I am watching for 1-2 quarters of an inch of ice accumulations due to freezing rain across Eastern Oklahoma. What’s your take on that?

Isha just ripped off my greenhouse cover and took it up the road with loads of the frame. Luckily one of my sons was here so went and got it. I’ll just have to wait until it’s light to see if it can be salvaged. I’m just hoping my big polytunnel stays put. C’est la vie, I’m sure others had much more to worry about.

I really hope that these storms have at least eased droughts in Spain and Italy. I am looking forward for mild temperatures from January 24th in SE Europe 😊 my city here in SE Europe has had so far nearly 120% of the average precipitation. In Latvia wind started pickup and some roads started to blowed with snow. Some roads even will be hard to drive with regular cars. Only some offroad cars and tractors will go.

Just drove from London to Wiltshire and back this evening and in places the car was really being buffeted by the winds on the motorway. Back in London there is rubbish blown about everywhere as people put their bags out for tomorrow’s collection I guess 🤦‍♂️
