It's about time we did a fish room tour! The layout of my fish room is basically done, with all the main racks and cabinets in place. Now all thats left is to do the fun stuff, tinkering with the little things, setting up and beautifying my aquariums :)

I currently keep a common musk turtle (stinkpot) in an aquarium in my house. They are easy to care for. Just keep your water clean and you should be good. If outside the sun will be all they need for their vitamins. If inside you def. need a basking light like you have but also a UVB light. These turtles will bask so great you have a basking platform for them. I would keep them outside and the maintenance will probably be easy for you. If I remember right, don’t quote me on this, but I think they will do well in the cold too. So you can probably keep them outside almost all year long. Do some research on them to see though.

Ryo, also feed your turtles a varied diet. Turtle pellets are fine but add like cut shrimp or they have some food mixes that are meal worms, shrimp, and crickets that is good to feed them. Some turtles love a little vegetables as well so maybe some lettuce, not iceberg, and also small pieces of fish. They may also like snails or worms too like earthworms. Also, when you feed don’t feed them everyday. In the wild they may not get a meal on certain days because they could not catch anything. So you can feed them every other day. In feeding days I do one day turtle pellets, skip a day, then do shrimp, fish, mealworms, crickets, etc., then I skip a day and then go back to turtle pellets and switch it up like that. I have been told by turtle experts that is a good way to feed them. You may also want to put some live fish in with them and allow them to catch their food sometimes if they are fast enough. If not, the fish will stay alive in their enclosure and become some good looking tank or pond mates.

For turtle pellets most zoos in USA and I use Mazuri aquatic turtle pellets. ZooMed is good as well and also Hikari Turtle sticks. You can also vary their turtle sticks so get more than one brand and mix them together if you want or on a pellet day feed one type of pellet and then on the next pellet feeding day give them a different brand of pellet. Each brand makes their pellets with different things in them so the formulas vary.

Also if you want to follow some turtle guys who know more than me check out Garden State Tortoise, Greg’s Turtle Haven, The Turtle Room, and Kamp Kenan. Also follow Jordan Gray, I think his Instagram is @jordanturtleman. He is a turtle biologists or herpetologist who can tell you almost anything you may want to know about turtles and tortoises. Between these guys they should be able to answer any of your turtle questions. They are all turtle and tortoise lovers. 👍🏼🐢

If you run moss through a mixer and just grind it up, then mix it with yoghurt (natural, without flavour) you can paint that onto hardscape. Over time it attaches itself much more evenly. I never use cotton string for mosses anymore. You would do fine even without the yoghurt as long as the humidity is the highest possible. The occasional light misting and air exchange is nessecary.

I’m just getting into aquatics but I know quite a lot about cacti! Not totally sure what the current care is but they love lots of sun, although if they’re in low light now they’ll need to be acclimated to high light. I water them whenever they get soft. If they’re well watered they’re nice and hard, and when they could use water they’ll have some give to em. You can use a light hand with regular plant fertilizer or you can use a cacti/succulent fertilizer as directed 😊

Alright! We finally have a fishroom tour. I was eagerly awaiting this.

Glad to see you got yourself the Painted turtles. 🐢

Thanks for gracing us with another video Ryo. Stay awesome! 😁

SWEET! I love that you have turtles now. Good choice with painted turtle as well. The western ones are the most colorful ones I think. I like the southern painted too which has a single orange stripe going down the center of its shell. Looks like a racing stripe. The fish room is looking great as well Ryo! 👍🏼

this is my much-awaited video of yours. It's cool to see that bit by bit it is coming together and there are new additions to the fish room. I'm so jealous of your new stands I wish I could make a stand like that in my place. Thank you for the great video such an inspiration.

The Rummynose Rasboras are stunning! Your fish room has come a long way! I've been on your journey since you started ~ back when you had to share the space with your Uncle's Volkswagen parts! Looking forward to seeing this year's aquarium for the competition ❤️ Best of luck!

Ryo, water your cactus only once a month. Most people tend to over water them and that will lead to root rot and they will die. Remember, they are desert plants so they know how to make the little water you give them go a long way. I water mine once a month and have no problem with them. Keep them in a lot of sunlight. Not sure how they may do in winter. I have seen them freeze and then wilt and die. I think that was in near freezing temps though. I would just keep them inside during the winter but plenty of sunlight. 👍🏼🌵

Very nice! We have Western Painted Turtles in our rivers, lakes and creeks in southern Oregon, USA. They are so cute and fast! As a kid I always tried to catch them and they are way faster than a human child...lol. When we have boat races on the Rogue River they get scared and run from the bank to the roads and many of us spend the boat races saving the turtles from cars. Finally I get to get my hands on them, but they are even fast on land.

Whoa! The fish room is looking fantastic, Ryo. I love the curtains, and those new wood stands/cabinets. Love them. You've got me wanting a cichlid tank like yours now. lol. I was actually considering getting a turtle for myself, but decided it is too late in my life - they live so long. But very well done! and wonderful to see you!👏🥰

A good basin and washing point is the quintessential for a hardcore hobbyist. I like your lab.

Hi Ryosenpai, been a long time follower and a big fan from Mexico :) I'm not very good with cactus indoors, from my experience, when they tend to over-develop the tips of the main body, it's usually due to a lack of natural sunlight. I've never tried with growing lights, but once outside my cactus seem to develop better (mainly due to central mexico semi-arid conditions) also in wnter very low watering and if below 0 temps, i bring them indoor for the night.
Anyway, love the aesthetic of the studio, it's been coming along great throughout the years and excited to see the new turtles journey as well :)
