This is fine & dandy for the current home owner. What about future ones tho? Shouldn’t they have the right to unblurr the home once it’s sold? I can see there will be some upset future home owners of blurred-out houses.

Isn't it better to hide a leaf amongst a forest? On top of that not every house is going to be blurred nor is every license plate so people can still find you through other people. I guess this would work good enough for faces though

Terrible idea: try searching up your adress there will be websites with tons of images from whoever sold or made the house and atleast 1 investigator website that knows who owns the house

All the companies and services be it food delivery, packages, Uber, etc etc. Blurring your house in Google Maps might make it harder for them to find your home. Not sure it’s really worth it.

Damn, thought I was going to be able to just blur out my whole neighborhood and mess with my friends and blur out their houses too. LOL

Did not work for me! I was trying to blur my house in Google Maps for a month, receiving confirmation requests "Thanks! We've received your report and will review it soon. If we find the image to be in violation of our policies we'll take the appropriate action, and will email you with the status of any changes. Sincerely, The Google Maps team Google Maps Home", but Google bureaucracy did not do anything about my requests.

I guess I got lucky when it came to ensuring my home’s privacy. I did this back when street view first came out. Except back them, google would completely remove your home and any images that had the smallest part of your property. To this day if you try to street view my house it takes you about five homes down the block. Because of my request, about 15 homes are not available at all on street view. BTW- google means it when they say this is a lifetime change. To this day, they still update my street but skip the same houses that it removed over 15 years ago since my request to remove my house. I bet real estate agents in my area hate me. Cause this value tool is ot available for the houses surrounding mine.

It could definitely attract the wrong kind of attention. My street here in the UK was updated for the first time since 2012 back in the summer. My neighbor who is paranoid about the government spying on went furious after finding this out and asked me if it could be blured. Well he had it blurred. Early January his house got broken in to when he was out
Meanwhile the neighbors opposite who were gone for over 3 week and had a upstairs window slightly opened with a ledge the anyone could up enter the house were fine. They also had some junk mail piling up out side the front door, aswell as other sign that the house was empty for sometime.
The neighbors lost about £3k.

The title is a bit misleading since you can't do it yourself rather you are requesting for it to be done. I think it should read as 'How to request a blurring of your house in Google Maps'. 😄

Blurring your house on Google Maps is irreversible and cannot be changed per Google.
