Why I Converted to the Orthodox Christian Church

Former protestant Lutheran and now Fr. Anastasios Hudson, presently an Orthodox priest living in Raleigh, North Carolina, converted to the Orthodox Christian Church.

I love being Orthodox!!! I am an Italian - German - American, having been raised by a Lutheran father and a Roman Catholic mother. I remember once going to a Mass and the music was provided by a guitar trio folk group, and I thought "What is this - am I at a Peter, Paul, and Mary concert?' (Now I'm showing my age! LOL) People ask me often why did I convert. The simple answer is, and get ready for it ___ TO LEARN THE TRUTH!!!
One of the pillars of Orthodoxy is Holy Tradition, and I learned that the Roman Church has, over the centuries been mistaken in ADDING to Holy Tradition, to the point when it became so blatant the the natural reaction was the rise of Protestantism, which in its fervor for cleansing actually DEDUCTED from Holy Tradition. Therefore. in my opinion, The Orthodox Church is The Living Church established by our LORD JESUS CHRIST, PREACHED BY THE APOSTLES, AND CONFIRMED THROUGH THE AGES BY APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION!! May the Lord keep yOu all and Bless you all the days of your life! AMEN!!

PRAYER OF THE ETHIOPIANS IN GLORIFICATION OF THE LORD

By Your endowment of Nature, We recognized that You have arranged for our daily bread and for the entire life-long provisions of our bodily needs.
You gave us, on daily basis, the Holy Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Your Son as nourishment for our Soul, and as an assurance for our salvation and eternal life. Through the same Sacrament, You exonerated us completely from our sins and iniquities once for all, and empowered us to forgive the debts of our debtors.
For us to be Your Children, You granted us the exaltation of the spiritual birth of Baptism and the Sacrament of the Grace of Penance. You led us out of every temptation, delivered us from evil, and overthrew the powers of the Devil and Death that dominated our lives. Finally, You ordained for us the honour and the privilege to live in the Rapture of Your Resurrection.
O Lord! We are always grateful to You for Your inexpressible generosity, mercy, love and grace, as well as for all our needs that You provided us before we even ask You.
We wait for the time You promised us to come, when Your Kingdom of Truth, in which we are now blessed to live, under the Kingship of Jesus Christ, “The Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah”, will prevail and destroy Evil, Sin and Death completely. Yes, we wait for the day when It actually reveals Itself to the material world and universally reigns over the whole realms of Creation.
Power, Glory and Kingdom are Yours, today as ever and forever, world without end. Amen.

Have you considered the messiahnic synagogue (I am not sure if that is the correct term)? I am thinking about finding more about that but I know also that I have been happy where I am attending which is Baptist.

I'm against ALL that statues should not be in any Church I agree...and in case you don't know last POPE changed the CREED too preparing it to fit the coming of the Anti-Christ...I'm not Catholic but Orthodox which is the Church before the split of 1054, Catholics are the first that started all this and now we have 3, 000 plus Christian Denominations and new ones every day...

Yes he says pray "for" one another not "to" one another. I do read the word and seek truth and if a televangelist says something that does not coincide then I question it and discard it. Same thing with these practices which I believe have more to do with tradition and accepting false doctrines, which Jesus warned against, 2000 years ago. The ppl in the day of the apostles tried to bow down and worship them and the disciples stopped them!

Yes I do. I accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and ask for his forgiveness and salvation. I am not sure I understand really the difference between the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. Had a discussion with someone else earlier this week about the pictures and symbols etc. Where I live, there is the Russian Orthodox and the Lebanese Orthodox churches so I don't think it wouldn't be a viable option for me to attend there since there are definate language barriers.

See that is the ignorance and wrong teachings protastants have NOBODY is WORSHIPING the Saints unless they are ignorant.

I've been to messianic Christian synogue too sister, be carful they are Christian but not for 2000 years they are boern again Christians with jewish tradition the way they think mixed with Moses law...

The Orthodox Church has Messianic Synagogue in it...look at the priests, go inside the Russian Orthodox Church and see...or Lebanese...
Remember lot of Orthodox dont know what Orthodox Church believes they are just born Orthodox just like alot of Baptists are born Baptists
