Learn French vocabulary - 027 Days of the week

Days of the week.
In this episode we’re going to learn the days of the week in French and how to say or ask what day it is today, what day it was yesterday and what day it will be tomorrow. I can feel the excitement and enthusiasm to learn in the air.
Now maybe some of you already know the days of the week or you remember it from primary school lol so I’m going to give you a little test. Are you ready? Est-ce que vous êtes prêt?

How do you say Monday in French
If you got it, Bravo but if you didn’t, I’ll give you a clue
It starts with the letter L
Monday is Lundi

How do you say Tuesday in French
If you got it, Bravo but if you didn’t, I’ll give you a clue
It starts with the letter M
Tuesday is Mardi

How do you say Wednesday in French
Great job if you got it right but if you didn’t, I’ll give you a clue
It starts with the letter M
Wednesday is Mercredi

How do you say Thursday in French
Great job if you got it right but if you didn’t, I’ll give you a clue
It starts with a J
Thursday is Jeudi

How do you say Friday in French
Excellent but if you didn’t, I’ll give you a clue
It starts with a V
Friday is Vendredi

How do you say Saturday in French
You’re doing great, here’s your clue if you didn’t get it
It starts with an S
Saturday is Samedi

How do you say Sunday in French
Very good job, Do you want a clue?
It starts with an D
Sunday is Dimanche

Now repeat after me Lundi, Lundi, Mardi, Mardi, Mercredi, Mercredi, Jeudi, Jeudi, Vendredi, Vendredi, Samedi, Samedi, Dimanche, Dimanche

Now I will give you space to say it all by yourself. You will see the English equivalent on your screen then you give the French version. Are you ready? Vous êtes prêt?

Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday,Sunday (each on a separate screen)

Bon travail! Do not worry if you didn’t get it all, just keep practising.

Now let’s look at how to say what day it is today:

Aujourd’hui c’est… then you add what day it is today
For example, Aujourd’hui c’est samedi.

To say what day yesterday was:
Hier était… (yesterday was…) then you add what day it is today
For example, Hier était vendredi. (yesterday was Friday)

To say what day tomorrow will be:
Demain sera…(tomorrow will be…) then you add what day it is today
For example, Demain sera dimanche. (tomorrow will be Sunday)

Now to ask what day it is today:
Nous sommes quel jour? OR
On est quel jour aujourd’hui?

Now answer the following questions:
On est quel jour aujourd’hui?(3 seconds gap)
I don’t know what day it is at the time you’re watching but you answer but
On est lundi ou mardi...
