Today together with SimVisa's founder and immigration attorney, SohYoon Atac we go through some of the most common tourist visa interview questions and how to answer them. We also guide you through the documents that will help support your case in the process of getting your visa.

Certainly, here are some common B1/B2 tourist visa interview questions and suggested ways to respond:

1. Purpose of Travel:
Question: "What is the purpose of your visit?"
Answer: Be honest and specific about your intentions. If it's tourism, mention the places you plan to visit. If it's for business, discuss the nature of your trip and the company or individuals you'll be meeting.
2. Length of Stay:
Question: "How long do you intend to stay?"
Answer: Clearly state the duration of your stay. Ensure your plans align with the allowed duration under the B1/B2 visa.
3. Financial Means:
Question: "How will you finance your trip?"
Answer: Provide details about your financial means to cover expenses, whether personal funds, sponsorships, or any assistance.
4. Ties to Home Country:
Question: "What ties do you have to your home country?"
Answer: Discuss your reasons for returning, such as family, job, property, or other commitments that show you have strong reasons to return.
5. Previous Travel History:
Question: "Have you traveled to other countries before?"
Answer: Be truthful about your travel history. If you've traveled before, discuss your experiences and adherence to visa conditions.
6. Employment and Background:
Question: "What do you do for a living?"
Answer: Provide information about your occupation, job title, and how long you've been employed. Emphasize your responsibilities and role in the company.
7. Travel Companions:
Question: "Are you traveling alone or with someone?"
Answer: Clearly state if you are traveling with family, friends, or colleagues. Provide their details if necessary.
8. Intent to Return:
Question: "Why do you want to return to your home country?"
Answer: Explain your reasons for returning, such as family, work commitments, or any other personal responsibilities that require your presence back home.
9. Other Personal Details:
Question: "Do you have family members in the U.S.?"
Answer: Be honest about any family members in the U.S. if asked. Provide details, if relevant.
General Tips:
Be honest and concise in your answers.
Provide only the information requested and avoid volunteering unnecessary details.
Show confidence and clarity in your responses.
Bring all required documents and be prepared for any additional queries about your application.
Preparing for these questions and having all relevant documents ready can help ensure a smoother visa interview process.

Thank you for the amazing video. All what you said I did 3 yrs ago, I got rejected once and applied again and that 2nd time I got rejected again but thanks got the Consulate open mine for me to fight and they ask me to prove if I am gonna come back. Long story short, they ask so many tricky questions back and forth to make I'm not lie. And finally, she chanhe her mind. So do not lie to them.

I never had any tickets at all, no bank statements, no work records, no ties to my home country shown. Just passport and application, no other docs. Trip reason: "To have fun". Got the visa for 10 years. was 5 times in the US already. When my visa expires I will simply mail my passport to the Embassy to renew it - same type, same period, no any additional interviews. In general, the US visa was the easiest one in my life.

Just tell the truth.
I made the application myself.
Also, the Filipino staff, from security to the teller are all very helpful.
This may help you. I chose a day for interview after a holiday.
Be well-groomed but not overly-made up.
Always answer with a smile.
Keep your answer brief and concise.
Lastly, pray that the immigration officer is compassionate. He/she will not even look at your documents so the way you present yourself is all that matters.
