Fall practice changed everything for me, I was terrified of falling and coming away from a top rope onto lead was a huge thing. Recently indoor my friends encouraged me to try some fall practice and it has really made me start to embrace and love lead so much more. I now cant wait to lead outdoors and I don't fear the whippers so much now, I am actually starting to enjoy them.

The best strategy for success in anything is to become pro at failing. Great wisdom in this video!

I always find that the higher up I am, the less afraid I am. It's the first 10 or so feet that are the most scary, 'cause that's when you might hit the ground if you fall.

i'm glad you made this video, i just started climbing 6 months ago, 4 weeks ago I fell for the first time, and hurt my ankle, I'm still at home with my ankle swollen, I have to say I was quite terrified for the incoming of the first flight, but now I'm less afraid after that fall, I'll do more practice and can't wait to go climbing again

Its not the fear of falling that gets me, Its the fear of hitting the ground after falling that does !!
Also Thank you Adam for climbing with Magnus, through that video I found your channel, And through your interactions with him, you have another sub !
Thank you !!

I think it's so important to wear a helmet, even as a professional climber! I don't see a lot of pros wearing them...

love it. embrace the fail.
learning to fail well is the key to progression.
so relevant to most mountain sports. whippers look way more fun than smashing yourself off rocks in a kayak or a mountain bike or a snowboard, but it's the same principal.

The nastiest fall I've seen recently is that of Caldwell while speed climbing the nose with Honnold. It looked more like base jumping than taking a fall.
