At this point I would almost rather see Alex climb with ropes. He has proved everything he needs to. Now I just want to see him live a long life!

No matter how many times iv watch Alex Honold climb el cap I will never be able to realize it. I was even more shocked when I visited Yosemite for first time

My understanding…and it is rarely alluded to…albeit cold comfort…is that every “free solo” route has been already “free climbed” many times by by the free soloist to the point that virtually every toe and finger hold has been rehearsed and mentally prepared for to the greatest extent possible. It is a triumph of focus and preparation.

I feel like the “live to climb another day” is somewhat rock, as there is a lot of risk in free climbing. I’ve known people who have died or gottten seriously injured in sketchy falls fire climbing, good vid that gets the point across, though

Alex Honnold is a living legend - he is humble, and does not chase lime light - quality authentic guy. FJB..

You live to climb another day if your pro holds. If what you are climbing is vertical. There are many places where a fall of twice the distance from your last pro + rope stretch, would have you smacking ledges. Then there’s the chance your piece doesn’t hold. Like when you are showing a weighted cam holding your body weight, that’s not showing shit. It depends on the placement and then proper use of sling and doesn’t take into account the pieces potentially “walking” as you move above the piece. Then how its weighted in dynamic fall.

I'm not going anywhere if getting back down isn't an easy task. How tf do you get way up there and get stuck? What happens next? Yup my 17' ladder makes my hands sweat every year putting up holiday decorations so that's my limit. I'm scared of heights in a way that falling terrifies me and it happens in my dreams a lot. But a roller coaster is fun af and I remember being in a C-130 landing and taking off in a combat zone as the cargo was fun too 😂

Free soloing is a subset of Free climbing. Free climbing means to climb without aid gear. Aid climbing also uses rope and protection

It’s like freerunning and parkour.Freerunning is alot of stylish bs whilst parkour is the fundamentals and more core and practical then flashy

How is climbing with rope considered free climbing? I thought difference was that there’s nobody else there with you in solo

Question that confused me, if i go free climbing and i fall does it still count as a free climb sent or does it then become aid climbing
