Malinda, thank you for singing this song. It's been years since I've heard this song. I'm Scottish, and my Scottish Gram use to sing this to me when it was bedtime or when I got hurt, she would cuddle me up on her lap and sing. Some times we sang it together when we did the dishes. as a child i had a lot of frequent nightmares and sleepless nights (probably due to anxiety that was only recently diagnosed), and i don't have any memories of my parents singing me to sleep or anything.
when brave came out i was obsessed with the movie, and my favorite part was whenever merida's mother sang to her. always put me to sleep right away, even now it still gives me a feeling of safety.
i dunno why i decided to share this, i guess the vid just brought up some memories.

I had such a weird reaction to this song when I first heard it in the cinema. I'm not Scottish but my family is from the far north of England with some connections to the Scottish lowlands. My grandmother would sing me a song so very much like this when I was little. It was like hearing her again and it brought tears to my eyes.

My family has deep gaelic and Hungarian roots, but I've always felt a strong connection to the gaelic side of the family. I Irish danced for 7 years consecutively, and still miss the wonderful feeling of being connected to my ancestors and their past. This song makes me feel like I'm finally home after a long journey, and the rest of my family is welcoming me back.
This connection I feel will never leave me, and I especially know it now after hearing you sing, MALINDA. You portray exactly how this music makes me feel in your voice, and you have inspired me to learn gaelic to become even more connected. Please continue what you have been doing!
