With this new Fortnite 17.20 update today, you can select different weapon presets to different item slots automatically as soon as you pick up a weapon!

Looting in the heat of battle? Have no fear, Preferred Item Slots are near. This setting sort your pick-ups in the inventory slot you designate for more control over what goes where.

For some reason the right joystick is the only button that works to move the items selected in my inventory. Before season 3 it was always the left joystick. How do o change it back?
