How to Recover the Router if Firmware is Corrupted

In DrayTek routers the ACT LED will flash once every second to indicate that the router is operating correctly. However, under some conditions the router firmware may become corrupted and place the router into an abnormal state.

When the router is in this condition it cannot be reached by either telnet or the web browser. The only option is to re-install the firmware to recover the router to a working state.

This video will show you the steps required to re-install the firmware into the router to restore it to operational condition.

Hi all, this utility and procedure is for DrayTek products. For other router brands please check with the manufacturer or Google <your router manufacturer> + <your router model> + the word "recovery" or sometimes the word "bricked". In some cases the DrayTek or any other TFTP utility may work. Other routers might be a bit more complicated. If your router is dead and out of warranty it's worth a try, but if it's still under warranty contact your manufacturer's Support as your first option.

Thanks! While I don't own this router this video showed me how to get my computer to send a firmware update to a router that wouldn't assign itself an IP through ethernet! I thought my router was bricked! Thanks again!

What does "nfjrom" mean in D-Link DWR routers? Is it a bin file? I'm using Wireshark to see the recovery file it's requesting but I saw this message: "Read Request, File: nfjrom, Transfer type: octet".

I have a Netgear R6260 router which is not working right now since my firmware update was interrupted this morning (wifi firmware updates are not reliable), and now my router will not work. I have tried doing all these steps, including doing a tfp2.exe and tftpd64.exe firmware update. The tftpd64 process seemed to work as instructed, but my router still won't startup to only show the power icon is blinking. Got on the phone with Netgear and in the end they told me I should buy a new router. Any suggestions before I buy a new router? I really don't want to. Thanks :)
