How to Use the FREQUENCY Function in Excel - Array Formula Example

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use the Excel Frequency function.

The FREQUENCY function returns a frequency distribution as a vertical array.

Create a vertical range of cells containing the upper bandings with which you wish to group your data (for example 0-10, 11-20 and so on 91-100)

Select the output range.
The FREQUENCY formula returns an array; we’ll use an array formula.

Type this formula: FREQUENCY.

Select the data array.

Select the range which contains intervals.

Use the keystrokes of Control + Shift + Enter’

The formula appears with curly brackets around it.
