Have rejoined a dojo 44 years after obtaining my purple-white in 1978!

Tho' pretty strong in basics (as per my present sensei), l have managed to forget all the katas including Heian Shodan.
Have picked up, 'Shodan, 'Nidan, & 'Sandan from your videos.

Thanks for these breakdowns, I stopped training 20 years ago at 5th Kyu and have recently started again, I was allowed to keep my rank but I have to remember all the Katas again. These have been really helpful to remembering the sequences when training on my own time outside of my DoJo. So thanks :-)

I’ll admit that I haven’t had as much time to practice the shotokan kata lately as I’ve been focusing on kumite. 😩

This makes we want to get back to it as it’s my preferred area of study. Also, isn’t it interesting how much of Kanku Dai is part of this form? Looking back, I should have learned this first so the moves would have made more sense.

I got to brown belt with a white strip (or two grades from black at my club) when I quit. 4 years on and im thinking of starting it back up again and these have been very helpful at jogging my memory and I’m loving that my muscle memory returns to me while following along
