The Lore of Alastor's Death in Hazbin Hotel

In Hazbin hotel sinners are comprised of people who died and went to hell with their appearance being affected by what they looked like when they were alive and how they died.

Alastor was a southern radio host and serial killer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He’s a mixed-race Creole. He’s aromantic asexual. He died in 1933.

The lore of his death goes as follows: Alastor had been shot in the head by a hunter who mistook him as a deer while attempting to bury a body on a hunting ground. He also has a dislike of dogs, probably because of this incident. The red X on his forehead that sometimes appears whenever he uses his demonic powers is a reference to this. This is also why he resembles a deer with his antlers and hooves.

There's a 3rd element that influences the Sinner's looks= how they lived.
Angel Dust & family were a Mafia family, so in death they all have a spider form.

Loopty & Lipton (HelluvaBoss) were mechanical geniuses, as Sinner demons they look robotic/cyborg. Their forms resemble the old man forms they died in instead of the buff men they were before the accident that aged them. Lyle Lipton has all 3 elements, as beyond the prior two, he also had piano teeth, (he died from falling piano)

I like to think his disdain for canines comes from the hunter who killed him. There's a possibility the hunter was using tracking/hunting dogs while looking for game. The dogs may have been drawn towards Alastor's location due to possible blood/scent trails from his victim.
Then again, that's just a theoretical headcanon of mine.

I thought the story went that the hunter's dogs could smell the blood on Alastor, so they chased him down and mauled him. The hunter just assumed they'd caught an injured deer or something, and shot at Alastor. So basically, Alastor died by getting shot in the head while getting eaten alive by dogs.

My theory for why Husk is a winged cat is because he drove himself (or jumped) off a cliff into a body of water and drowned. It’s confirmed that he died via a suicide drowning, we just don’t know the details surrounding it yet. I think him being a cat is a reference to that fact that most cats hate the water, and the wings are a reference to him falling to his death. The gambling motif came from how he lived (as a gambler).

He also has his smile because of his mother's advice growing up to maintain a smile in adversity. He grew up taking care of her but also did his part in the radio show. The versatility of the smile in any situation is something he adapted through his love for his mother far after she died.
