Static and Kinetic Friction - Physics Example Explained

In this video, we dive into static friction and kinetic friction and how they apply to different objects in motion. I explain the concepts behind the frictional forces and demonstrate them using real-world examples, including ice on ice, rubber on concrete, and wood on brick.

Key formulas covered include:

Static Friction: f_s = μ_s * N
Kinetic Friction: f_k = μ_k * N
I break down the differences between static friction (the force that must be overcome to start moving an object) and kinetic friction (the force that opposes motion once the object is moving). You’ll also learn about the frictional forces at play when rolling without slipping.

This video is perfect for students studying physics, mechanics, and forces, and for anyone looking to understand how friction impacts motion.

What You Will Learn:

How static and kinetic friction forces work
Differences between static and kinetic friction
Real-world applications of friction forces
Key formulas and their usage in problem-solving

I wanna thank this guy for getting me through Algebra, Calculus 1, 2&3. Differential Equations and ALL other difficult courses I encountered in college. Keep it up
Thank you

bro you got me through Calculus 1 2 and 3 as well about 7 years ago, wanted to check out your channel and see how you're doing and it's great that you're still uploading video and giving people FREE education. I remember watching your videos to prepare for my tests because I would learn more from 10-20 mins watching your videos than an hour of lecture

keep up the good work! you are changing lives

I hope you get to do electrical engineering, like circuits of such and transistors, amplifiers.

Thank you for this nice video, and tutorial! May I ask what kind of whiteboard or teachnology you're using to generate this kind of real-time effect of drawing on the board? Thanks so much in advance!!

Hey Patrick! I have been having problems lately. These couple of months I've been contacted by a fellow student and his messages has made me feel uncomfortable. Two weeks ago, I even saw him in front of my busstop even though I know that he doesn't take this bus. When we made eye contact he quickly looked away and went the other way. I've tried to block his number but he somehow managed to get my email, and said that he had removed my email from a list of emails that could potentially get hacked, and that was it. He didn't write anything else in that email.
I'm freaking out, and I desperately hope that you can help me find a solution to this equation - Susanne
